Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister-Designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, has assured Ghanaians that the implementation of the 24-hour economy initiative will resolve many issues faced by the One District, One Factory (1D1F) program.
Speaking before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee on Wednesday, January 22, she emphasized that the lack of capital, unresolved raw material issues, and unfulfilled government commitments, such as the promised 10% incentive to manufacturers, have hindered the program’s progress.
“Our industries have suffered due to raw material shortages, but commercial contract farming under the 24-hour economy will tackle this issue effectively,” she noted.
She further explained that under the 24-hour economy framework, businesses will benefit from tax holidays and stimulus packages, significantly improving the availability of raw materials for local industries.
“These industries are not political; they are looking for what the country can do for them,” she added.
If approved by Parliament, she will become the first woman to hold the Trade Minister position in Ghana.
