The Deputy Director of IT and Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, has issued a stern warning to individuals attempting to disrupt the 2024 general elections.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Dr. Tanko-Computer declared, “If you try to run away with the ballot box, we will finish you. We will take the laws into our own hands and deal with you.”
This warning comes amidst growing tension between the NDC and key state institutions over electoral conduct.
At a press conference on November 19, NDC National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi called on the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare, and other security leaders to ensure robust measures are in place to prevent violence or loss of lives during the elections.
The NDC emphasized that accountability would rest on the security agencies if they failed to protect citizens and safeguard the process.
The NDC has accused Brigadier General Michael Opoku of being part of an alleged election-rigging scheme in the Ashanti Region.
Sammy Gyamfi claimed that Brigadier General Opoku’s promotion to General Officer Commanding the Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces was orchestrated to manipulate the polls in favor of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
These allegations further escalate the political climate as Ghana heads toward a crucial election season.
