The Forestry Commission office at Achimota in Accra was broken into early this morning, with several valuable items reported stolen.
According to sources who wished to remain anonymous, the intruders, some wearing branded National Democratic Congress (NDC) shirts, were seen chanting, “Our government is now in power,” as they stormed the facility.
Among the stolen items were 24 air conditioners, laptops, and various other essential equipment belonging to the Commission.
The break-in has raised concerns about the security of state-owned properties, particularly amid the political transitions following the 2024 elections.
Although the authorities have not yet confirmed whether the incident is related to the current political climate, the situation has sparked worry over the potential for similar events at other government offices.
The intruders also attempted to steal the keys to newly acquired vehicles but were unsuccessful.
The police quickly responded to the scene and secured the area, launching an investigation into the theft. As of now, no official comments have been made by the Forestry Commission, but updates are expected as the investigation continues.
Authorities are working to track down the individuals responsible for the break-in.
