The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, is set to inaugurate the Yamoransa Model (YM) Lab 14 in the Nadowli-Kaleo District on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
The state-of-the-art facility, established at the Speaker’s request and funded by him, aims to advance Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education in the district.
The Helping Africa Foundation supported the project by providing the required technology and equipment, while its implementation was carried out in partnership with TECHAiDE, Ghana Education Service, the Nadowli-Kaleo District Assembly, and the Traditional Council.
YM Lab 14 is expected to serve as a cutting-edge learning centre, enhancing innovation, creativity, research, and leadership potential among students.
The facility will be equipped with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) resources, multimedia content, a Maker Space with robotics, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) learning tools, and 3D printing technology.
The lab will directly benefit over 3,439 students, including 1,788 males and 1,651 females from ten schools in the Kaleo community.
The 36-seater EDUlab, which includes a Maker Space and a conference room, is designed to provide students with hands-on experience to complement their classroom learning.
Speaker Bagbin, as the promoter of the initiative, has reiterated his commitment to bridging educational gaps in his district through collaborative efforts, stakeholder engagement, and securing sustainable funding to expand the initiative.
