A poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics has revealed a commanding lead for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia among New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters, with 57% backing the former Vice President to lead the party in the 2028 presidential elections.
Bawumia, who was the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate, continues to enjoy strong support within the party, positioning him as the front-runner in the upcoming race.
His closest rival, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, a six-term MP for Assin Central, trails significantly with just 22% support, while Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum follows with 11%.
The poll results paint a clear picture of the NPP’s internal dynamics, with Bawumia securing a dominant 57% of the backing from the party’s base. His position appears unchallenged among key figures, including Agyapong and Adutwum.
Other candidates such as Kwabena Agyapong, Brian Acheampong, and Francis Addai Nimo collectively hold 11% support, reflecting the divided competition behind Bawumia.
With more than half of NPP supporters firmly behind him, Bawumia’s path to becoming the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections seems increasingly secure.
Looking beyond party lines, a broader view of electorate preferences also places Dr. Bawumia in a strong position for the NPP flagbearership, with an impressive 48.1% of voters expressing their support.
The latest figures from the Global InfoAnalytics poll indicate that while Bawumia dominates within the NPP, his public favorability extends to a wide cross-section of the electorate, further solidifying his status as the leading contender for the presidency.
Kennedy Agyapong, with 25.1%, remains a formidable challenger, but Bawumia’s lead signals a powerful momentum heading into the 2028 elections.
