The Suame District Court has remanded seven military officers into custody for two weeks following their alleged involvement in the assault and subsequent deaths of two civilians, reportedly over a missing iPhone 15.

According to reports, the officers apprehended three civilians from Asafo after a woman accused them of snatching her iPhone 15 and selling it for GHS 3,000.

The suspects are said to have transported the victims to the 4th Battalion barracks (4Bn) in Kumasi, where the civilians were allegedly subjected to severe beatings before being dumped in a bush at Danyame. Tragically, two of the three were later found dead.

The military officers have been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. However, they have denied any assault, admitting only to arresting the individuals for interrogation and dropping them off at Danyame.

The case has sparked public concern and is set to continue as investigations unfold.
