President of the Ghana Institute of Architects, Tony Asare, has criticized the design of markets in Ghana, stating they are not adequately constructed to meet the needs of users.
According to him, market infrastructure should prioritize hygiene, allow for free movement, and ensure proper security to support efficient operations.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, Mr. Asare emphasized that without addressing these structural shortcomings, the challenges faced by traders and consumers will continue.
His remarks come in the wake of an ongoing decongestion exercise in Accra, led by the Greater Accra Regional Minister.
Meanwhile, he urged government agencies to collaborate with traditional authorities and relevant stakeholders to ensure that such measures are effectively implemented and not politicised.
He also called for national unity and encouraged the opposition to support the government in achieving common development goals.
