The Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has firmly rejected claims that President Nana Akufo-Addo’s actions toward Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo constitute a political witch-hunt.

Addressing the media in response to the Chief Justice’s fiery press statement, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stressed that “the President has not acted in violation of the Constitution,” and reiterated that “everything the presidency has done has been by the books.”

“There is no political agenda to remove the Chief Justice,” he said emphatically.

“Any claim of a political motive to the President is unfounded and cannot be allowed to stand.”

The Minister further described attempts to associate the hearing venue with historical tragedies as “disingenuous,” following Justice Torkornoo’s claim that the selection of the Adu Lodge for her hearing was intended to intimidate her.

The press conference comes after the suspended Chief Justice publicly decried what she called a dangerous violation of constitutional justice and due process in her removal proceedings.

She alleged a lack of transparency, selective disclosure, and intimidation tactics—all of which the government has now flatly denied. According to the Minister, these proceedings are being handled legally, without interference or vendetta from the presidency.
