Former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has passed away in London at the age of 82.
His death was officially announced by his family in a statement posted on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account this afternoon, July 13, 2025.
The brief statement read: “INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHI RAJI’UN. The family has announced the passing of the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, this afternoon, in a clinic in London. May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin.”
It was signed by Garba Shehu, his longtime spokesperson and aide.
His former media aide, Bashir Ahmad, also confirmed the news on his X page, stating: “The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London.”
Further details about funeral arrangements or the circumstances leading to his death have not yet been disclosed.
