Security analyst Richard Kumadoe has cautioned against the militarisation of the upcoming Akwatia by-election, stressing that elections are civil exercises and not battlefields.
He warned that any attempt to incite violence or escalate tensions could trigger the deployment of Special Forces, which should be avoided at all costs.
Speaking to ABC News GH ahead of the polls, Kumadoe urged political actors to maintain peace and conduct themselves responsibly.
He emphasised that elections are ultimately organised to serve the interests of politicians and must therefore be handled in a way that reflects democratic values and national unity.
Kumadoe further called on political parties and their supporters to exercise maximum restraint throughout the election period.
He stressed the need for tolerance, calm, and discipline, reminding all stakeholders that Ghana’s democratic stability must take precedence over partisan gains.
