The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has ordered Nutrifoods Ghana Limited to immediately halt the production of its popular Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix, citing serious health and safety breaches uncovered at the company’s facility.
The suspension, announced on Sunday, August 3, follows an earlier directive for a nationwide recall of all canned Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix products, including the 380g and 1.05kg pouch variants.
According to the FDA, the decision was triggered by multiple consumer complaints, prompting an in-depth inspection of the company’s operations.
The investigation revealed critical lapses, including poor maintenance of manufacturing equipment and the absence of proper monitoring systems to ensure product quality and consumer safety.
The Authority stated that production will remain suspended until Nutrifoods rectifies all violations and meets the required regulatory standards.
In the meantime, the FDA assured the public that it will continue its surveillance to enforce compliance and protect public health.
