The Church of Pentecost has expressed profound grief over the tragic helicopter crash of August 6, 2025, which claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians.
In a press statement issued today, August 8, 2025, the church identified the victims as Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum-Ampadu, and Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah.
The church, on behalf of its Chairman, the Executive Council, and its entire membership, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Government of Ghana, and the citizenry, describing the incident as a moment of national mourning.
It noted that the loss was not only personal to the affected families but also a significant blow to the country, as the deceased were individuals who had served Ghana with diligence, honour, and dedication to national development.
According to the statement, The Church of Pentecost stands in prayer with the bereaved families and is asking God to comfort them with peace that surpasses all understanding. It also prayed for divine strength for President John Dramani Mahama, members of government, and the leadership of the security services as they navigate this period of grief.
The church further called on Ghanaians to reflect on the fragility of life and embrace unity, compassion, and hope in the face of tragedy. It expressed the hope that the Lord would heal the land and grant eternal rest to the departed souls.
The condolence message was signed by Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, on behalf of the church’s headquarters in Accra.
