The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has commenced full nationwide enforcement of the mandatory use of GoldBod receipts by all licensed gold buyers, following several postponements and a grace period granted to traders to regularise their operations.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 18, 2025, the Board explained that the use of receipts is compulsory for all transactions involving licensed aggregators, self-financed aggregators, as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 buyers. According to GoldBod, the measure is designed to enhance transparency and strengthen regulation in Ghana’s gold trade.
To ensure compliance, GoldBod has deployed a task force and field inspectors across the country, with licensed buyers required to make their receipt booklets available for inspection and to cooperate fully with inspection teams.
The Board further urged small-scale miners and gold traders to insist on official receipts for every transaction, stressing that failure to issue receipts constitutes a serious offence that could attract sanctions, including the suspension or revocation of licences.
GoldBod also advised licensed buyers who require assistance in obtaining receipt booklets to contact its Licensing and Regulatory Unit through dedicated hotlines.
