The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has rubbished claims circulating in the media that about 60 per cent of applicants who underwent military medical screening tested positive for HIV, describing the publication as false and misleading.
In a press release issued on January 25, 2026, the GAF said the report is “fake news” and should be disregarded entirely by the public. According to the military high command, the medical screening process for applicants is still ongoing and no official results have been declared.

“The attention of the Ghana Armed Forces has been drawn to a publication circulating in the media alleging that about 60 per cent of applicants tested for military medical screening were found to be HIV positive. Ghana Armed Forces wishes to state categorically that the publication is fake news and should be ignored by all,” the statement said.
The Armed Forces further noted that steps are being taken to trace the originators of what it described as a “mischievous story,” adding that appropriate action will be taken against those found responsible.
GAF also cautioned media practitioners, content creators, bloggers and vloggers to exercise professionalism by crosschecking facts before publishing unverified information.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to transparency and urged the public to rely only on official communication channels for accurate information regarding recruitment and medical processes.
