The United States Embassy in Accra has announced a change in its visa services operations, effective August 26, 2024.
The Embassy will transition to a new visa services provider, which will be disclosed on the US Embassy’s official website.
As a result, access to the current visa service provider’s website and services will cease on August 16, 2024, initiating a ten-day transition period during which visa applicants will experience temporary service interruptions.
During this transition period, from August 16 to August 26, applicants will not be able to make new visa appointments, cancel or reschedule existing appointments, or access customer service.
However, all current nonimmigrant visa interview appointments remain valid.
The Embassy has outlined specific actions required for different applicant groups to minimize disruption.
Applicants with interviews scheduled on or before August 16 can continue accessing their accounts at ustraveldocs.com to review appointment details and contact customer service.
Those with interviews scheduled between August 16 and August 26 must print their appointment confirmation letters before August 16, as they will not be able to make changes during the transition.
The U.S. Embassy has provided crucial guidelines for applicants to ensure a smooth transition.
Applicants who have paid the visa fee but not scheduled an interview are advised to schedule appointments as soon as possible.
Those planning to travel in August or September and have not yet paid the visa fee were advise to do so immediately to secure a slot.
For those planning to travel after September, it is suggested to wait until after August 26 to start the visa process.
Key dates include August 16, the last day to access ustraveldocs.com, and August 26, the launch of the new visa appointment website.
The Embassy emphasizes the importance of understanding specific visa requirements and completing necessary steps promptly to avoid disruptions.
