Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has thrown down the gauntlet to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), predicting they won’t secure 40% of votes in the upcoming general election.
According to him, the NDC has learned from the bitter lessons of 2020, and their enhanced vigilance will prevent any attempts to manipulate the results.
“If NPP gets 40% in this year’s election, they have tried,” Tanko confidently stated, underscoring his belief that the NPP will no longer benefit from what he alleged were “stolen votes.”
Dr. Tanko highlighted the NDC’s commitment to stricter election monitoring this time around.
He recalled how the NPP allegedly used underhanded tactics during the 2020 election, citing a bizarre moment when the Electoral Commission (EC) distracted NDC representatives with tea and biscuits while manipulating the vote tally.
“Our people did their best in 2020, but unfortunately, this EC rigged the election, and we have evidence,” Tanko emphasized. He assured that the NDC agents are now fully trained and will keep a vigilant eye on the entire process to prevent any electoral fraud.
With renewed determination, Tanko expressed confidence that the NDC is more prepared than ever to reclaim power.
He declared that they are “monitoring with clear eyes” to ensure that the events of 2020 will not be repeated.
“We are ready for power,” he affirmed, stressing that the NPP’s attempts to rig the election will fail this time, leaving them to struggle even to reach 40% of the total vote.
