Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, the Minister of State-designate for Public Sector Reforms, has vowed to enhance the digital platforms introduced under the Akufo-Addo administration to improve efficiency and accountability in government operations.
She emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to streamline processes, reduce bureaucratic delays, and promote transparency in public service delivery.
Speaking during her vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday, February 24, Akanvariba highlighted key digital initiatives such as the Ghana.GOV platform, the Ghana Revenue Authority payment system, and the Paperless Port system, stating that these platforms require further strengthening.
“I do believe digitalization is the way to go. Some work has been done on the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System and the current payment system, but that is not enough,” she asserted.
Akanvariba also acknowledged the existing gaps in digital infrastructure across various government institutions.
She cited the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) as an example, pointing out that some offices lack adequate computers for efficient operations.
“It’s my responsibility to continue from where you [Akufo-Addo’s administration] started and make the public sector efficient, modern, and robust,” she assured, reaffirming her commitment to driving digital transformation within the public sector.
