Residents of Assin Awisam have arrested a group of individuals said to be national security operatives after accusing them of stealing gold, mobile phones, and cash.
Angry community members alleged that the group, who were in uniform arrived in a Mitsubishi pickup with registration number GS-8293-18 and a Voxy Vehicle, seized their belongings, including an unspecified quantity of gold, during an operation on Thursday afternoon.
They further claimed the operatives had a history of extorting money from residents. In response, the youth in the area deflated the tyres of the vehicle and attempted to assault the suspects, but elders in the community intervened to prevent violence.
The suspects were subsequently arrested by the residents and handed over to the police for further investigation.
An eyewitness, who claimed to be a victim, testifies that the group comprised about eight individuals.
He further alleged that most of these guys are boys of the member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency Hon. Nurein Shaibu Migyimah
