The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially acknowledged receipt of a petition from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the ‘Enough is Enough’ protest.
The nationwide demonstration, held on September 17, voiced the NDC’s frustration over the EC’s refusal to allow an independent audit of the voters’ register.
In a statement signed by Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chair (Operations), the Commission assured that a formal response would be provided “in the coming days.”
The EC also updated the public on the current status of the voters’ register, emphasizing that “the process of producing the final register is in its early stages.”
Tettey reaffirmed the Commission’s awareness of the register’s pivotal role in guaranteeing fair and transparent elections.
He assured stakeholders of the EC’s commitment to delivering a credible and robust final register before the December 2024 elections.
In response to the NDC’s concerns, the EC expressed a willingness to engage with the party to ensure transparency.
“We assure the NDC and all stakeholders of our avowed commitment to delivering a credible and robust final register,” Tettey reiterated, underscoring the Commission’s dedication to ensuring a transparent electoral process.
