The Ghana Scholarships Authority has announced the release of first-quarter funds to begin settling outstanding scholarship arrears owed to Ghanaian students studying abroad.

In a statement issued in Accra on April 16, 2026, the Authority said the government has disbursed the initial allocation to support the payment of delayed stipends and tuition fees, particularly for beneficiaries in the United Kingdom and other countries.

The Authority acknowledged the prolonged delays in payments and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to students. It noted that the intervention forms part of broader efforts by the government to address challenges associated with the disbursement of scholarship funds.

“Government remains fully committed to the welfare of Ghanaian students abroad,” the statement emphasized, adding that steps are being taken to ensure that future delays are minimized.

The Authority further indicated that it is working closely with relevant stakeholders to fast-track the processing of payments and clear all outstanding obligations.

Students benefiting from the scholarship scheme have been urged to remain calm and continue their academic work while efforts are intensified to resolve the situation.

The statement, signed by Director-General Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, also expressed appreciation to affected students for their patience and cooperation during the period.
