Ghana’s U-15 girls’ team, the Black Damsels, capped a brilliant campaign by defeating Uganda 2-1 to clinch the 2025 African Schools Football Championship (ASFC) girls’ edition title.
The young Ghanaian side showcased resilience and skill throughout the tournament. After overcoming defending champions South Africa in a thrilling 3-2 semi-final clash, they produced another impressive performance to edge Uganda and secure the coveted continental crown.
Despite heavy rains threatening to disrupt the final at the University of Ghana Stadium, the Black Damsels maintained their focus and determination under the guidance of head coach Joyce Boatey-Agyei, grinding out a hard-fought 2-1 victory.
As champions, the team will be rewarded with a cash prize of $300,000. The runners-up, Uganda, will receive $200,000, while the third-placed team in both the boys’ and girls’ categories will each take home $150,000, emphasizing CAF’s commitment to investing in youth football development.
Meanwhile, in the boys’ tournament, Ghana’s U-15 team wrapped up their campaign on a positive note by securing third place. The Black Satellites U-15 side fought back to defeat Uganda 2-1 in a tense third-place playoff match, highlighting the country’s depth of talent at the youth level.
The victories further reinforce Ghana’s proud tradition of excellence in youth football and promise a bright future for the national teams.
