The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has launched a nationwide operation targeting undocumented migrants, particularly focusing on major cities like Accra.
The exercise, which commenced in the early hours of Friday, 16th May 2025, is part of the Service’s ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws and bolster national security.
Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs at GIS, stated in a press release that the operation aims to ensure “all foreign nationals residing in Ghana do so legally.”
The crackdown reflects the Service’s broader mandate to uphold immigration regulations and safeguard the country from the challenges posed by streetism and undocumented migration.
