Ghanaian forward Ibrahim Zubairu has expressed deep appreciation to the fans of Serbian powerhouse Partizan Belgrade after undergoing successful surgery on an ankle injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season.
The 21-year-old rising star picked up the injury during Partizan’s Serbian Superliga fixture against Radnicki over the weekend. Zubairu was forced off the pitch in the 35th minute and replaced by teammate Joh Youngjun after a challenge left him unable to continue.
Following a successful operation, the former Ghana U20 international took to social media to thank fans for their support and reassure them of his determination to return stronger.
“Hello, Grobari! Thank you for your messages and support. The surgery was successful, I’m feeling good now, and I’ll come back stronger than ever! Love you all!” Zubairu posted.
Since joining Partizan last summer, Zubairu has been one of the club’s standout performers, tallying 9 goals and 3 assists in 26 appearances across all competitions. His pace, creativity, and composure in front of goal quickly made him a fan favourite and an essential part of the team’s attacking unit.
His absence is a significant blow to Partizan’s title hopes as they enter the critical final stretch of the season. However, the club and its supporters remain hopeful for a full recovery and an even stronger comeback in the next campaign.
Zubairu began his professional journey with Kumasi-based King Faisal in Ghana before moving to Serbia, where he continues to make a name for himself on the European stage. Despite his impressive club form, he is yet to earn a senior Black Stars call-up—a goal many believe is within reach if his upward trajectory continues.
