The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has directed an immediate investigation into allegations that some police officers stationed at Kibi were involved in the unauthorized withdrawal of GH¢400,000 from the mobile money account of an agent.
The directive comes after a video circulating widely on social media accused the officers of participating in the alleged transaction. The footage has sparked public concern and calls for accountability.
Following the development, the IGP has tasked the Ghana Police Service to initiate a formal probe through its Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB), the unit responsible for handling complaints and misconduct involving police personnel.
According to the police, the individual who claims to be the victim of the incident has already been reached and is cooperating with investigators as they work to verify the circumstances surrounding the alleged withdrawal.
Authorities say the investigation will examine all aspects of the claims raised in the viral video to determine whether any wrongdoing occurred.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that the inquiry will be conducted thoroughly and professionally. It also pledged that the findings of the investigation will be made public once the process is completed.
