President John Dramani Mahama has officially accepted the early retirement request of the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzi.
A statement issued by the Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on February 7 confirmed that her retirement will take effect from February 28, 2025.
The President expressed gratitude for her service to the central bank and the country, wishing her success in her future endeavors.
Mrs. Awadzi’s departure follows a series of high-profile exits at the Bank of Ghana, including that of Dr. Ernest Addison, the immediate past Governor, who recently proceeded on terminal leave.
His position has since been filled by Dr. Johnson Asiama.
Additionally, Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari, the First Deputy Governor, has also decided to proceed on leave, raising further speculation about leadership transitions within the institution.
