President John Dramani Mahama has directed the immediate reversal of all allocations and sales of land belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The directive, announced by Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, aims to safeguard state assets and prevent further encroachment on public lands.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 5, Ablakwa revealed that the affected lands, located at Airport Residential, had been allocated to seven organizations and individuals under the previous government.
“Yesterday’s presidential directive will ensure that the Ministry’s adjoining land at Airport Residential, which some seven organisations and individuals claim to be the new owners, would now be cancelled and preserved for the people of Ghana,” Ablakwa stated.
He expressed deep appreciation to President Mahama for his swift action, describing the move as a demonstration of strong and patriotic leadership in protecting national resources.
The Minister further assured Ghanaians that under his leadership, no property belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—whether in Ghana or abroad—would be sold. “Under my watch as Foreign Minister, no land or property of the Ministry, located either home or abroad, would be sold,” he affirmed.
He pledged to uphold the integrity of the ministry’s assets, ensuring they remain under state control for the benefit of the nation.
