Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayiribi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has slammed the National Economic Dialogue, dismissing it as a mere platform for the government to rehash campaign promises rather than engage in meaningful economic discussions.
He accused the administration of using the event to manipulate public perception, painting a grimmer picture of the economy to justify its struggles in delivering on its commitments.
Speaking on Business News Update on ABC News GH TV, Nkrumah revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had not received an invitation to participate in the dialogue, questioning the government’s sincerity in fostering bipartisan engagement.
He argued that this exclusion is a continuation of a pattern, as the NPP has been left out of similar forums in the past. According to him, a true economic discussion should involve all stakeholders, including opposition voices, to ensure balanced and effective solutions.
Nkrumah warned that without genuine dialogue and accountability, the forum would be nothing more than political theater, offering little hope for real economic transformation.
