A dramatic twist unfolded in Twifo Praso as a 15-year-old girl was caught on CCTV stealing GH₵41,000 and an undisclosed amount of gold from a local gold shop.
The audacious theft, which took place on January 28, 2025, was executed while the shop attendant, Enoch Boateng, briefly stepped out.
Seizing the moment, the teenager, accompanied by an eight-year-old girl, looted the shop under the guise of inquiring about purchasing mercury.
The police, acting on a tip-off, tracked the girl and her boyfriend to Egyaa in the Mfantseman Municipality, where they were arrested.
Reports indicate that she had distributed part of the stolen money among accomplices, with her boyfriend receiving GH₵15,000.
“We are actively investigating to bring all involved to justice,” police officials stated.
The shocking crime has sparked concerns over juvenile delinquency and security vulnerabilities in local businesses.
