The Tryton Motors Ghana Limited has signed a landmark sponsorship agreement with Jonina Football Academy, reaffirming its commitment to the growth of women’s football and the empowerment of female athletes in Ghana.
The sponsorship agreement was announced at a ceremony attended by football administrators, corporate executives, and invited guests. The partnership is expected to provide a major boost to Jonina Football Academy, one of the clubs competing in the Ghana Women’s Premier League.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Jonina Football Academy, Hon. Betty Seyram Krosbi Mensah, described the partnership as a historic milestone for both the club and women’s football in Ghana.
She expressed excitement over what she described as the academy’s first major corporate sponsorship, noting that women’s football clubs have long struggled to secure the level of financial support enjoyed by their male counterparts.
“Women’s football has not received the attention and support it deserves over the years. For a corporate organization like Tryton Motors to identify Jonina Football Academy and invest in our vision is truly remarkable. This is more than sponsorship; it is a strong statement of confidence in women’s football and the empowerment of women,” she said.
Hon. Betty Seyram Krosbi Mensah also called on other corporate institutions to emulate Tryton Motors by investing in women’s sports, stressing that sustained sponsorship is crucial to developing female football talent and advancing the women’s game across the country.
She expressed confidence that the partnership would strengthen the academy’s operations, improve player development, and inspire more young women to pursue careers in football.
The sponsorship marks a significant step toward increasing private sector investment in women’s football and highlights the growing recognition of the sport’s potential in Ghana.
