A 26-year-old Ghanaian lawyer has tragically died after collapsing during celebrations following the Black Stars’ 1-0 victory over Panama in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The deceased, identified as Sara Araba Tettey, is reported to have fallen ill while jubilating with friends on Wednesday, June 17, shortly after Ghana secured the win.

She was in the company of friends at Standard Hostel in Bomso, near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), when she suddenly collapsed during the celebrations.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that she was quickly rushed to the KNUST Hospital, where medical staff reportedly attempted to resuscitate her through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for about 45 minutes.
Despite the efforts of the medical team, she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Sara Araba Tettey was an alumna of the KNUST Faculty of Law and was called to the Ghana Bar in October last year. She was working with O and A Legal Consult prior to her passing.
Her body has since been deposited at the KNUST Medical School mortuary pending further procedures.
