Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, nominated as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice-designate, has stressed the importance of decentralizing anti-corruption institutions in Ghana.
Speaking during his vetting on Monday, January 13, 2025, Ayine argued that focusing these institutions solely in Accra could deprive other regions of essential resources and attention in the fight against corruption.
He emphasized that a more equitable distribution of resources across the country would enhance the effectiveness of anti-corruption efforts and ensure that no part of Ghana is left behind in the battle for transparency and accountability.
Ayine, who has a strong background in constitutional law and governance, also made it clear that if confirmed as the substantive Attorney-General, he would not compromise the interests of Ghana.
Ayine’s views are likely to shape discussions on legal reforms and the importance of an impartial and decentralized justice system in Ghana.
“I pray that you will walk the talk ensuring sanity in the sector,” sitting in the appointment committee, Minority Leader, Afenyo Markin made this statement following Dr. Ayines submission during the vetting.
