The Ghana Police Service has employed the use of drones as part of efforts to enhance security measures for the Assin North by-election.
According to the Police Service, the use of drones will help them capture situations of conflict and violence in real time during today’s by-election. The drones will be deployed at conflict-prones areas in the Assin North Constituency.
These are part of the security measures the Ghana Police Service has taken to ensure a peaceful and violence-free election.
On Monday, June 26, 2023, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, held a meeting with key figures from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in preparation for the upcoming by-election in Assin North.
The purpose of this gathering, which took place at the Assin State College SHS, was to foster communication, mutual understanding, and cooperation between the political parties and the police force.
The topics covered during the meeting encompassed a wide range of issues, including security arrangements, the prevention of electoral malpractices, and the crucial role of law enforcement in creating a conducive atmosphere for fair and transparent elections.
