The Member of Parliament for Salaga South Constituency, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former MP and Savannah Region Minister, Hon. Salifu Adam Braimah.
Hon. Braimah, popularly known as “Uncle Sally,” passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre after a brief illness. He was 60 years old.
In a heartfelt tribute, Hajia Ibrahimah described the late politician as a dedicated public servant whose contributions to the Salaga South Constituency and the Savannah Region will not be forgotten.
Hon. Braimah served as the Member of Parliament for Salaga South in the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic, after winning the seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party in the 2016 general elections—one of the most fiercely contested races in the constituency’s history.
He later became the founding Minister for the Savannah Region following its creation, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the administrative and developmental foundations of the newly formed region under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Reflecting on their political history, Hajia Ibrahimah noted that although they contested against each other in the 2020 and 2024 parliamentary elections, their relationship remained respectful and rooted in a shared vision for the development of Salaga South.
“Our contests were never rooted in personal rivalry, but rather in a shared commitment to the development and well-being of our people,” she stated.
She described the late Braimah as a “man of the people,” highlighting his warmth, accessibility, and genuine concern for the lives of his constituents.
His passing, she said, leaves a significant void not only in the constituency but also among all who had the privilege of working with him.
The MP extended her condolences to the Kpembe Traditional Area, the bereaved family, and all Ghanaians mourning the loss, urging them to find comfort in his legacy of service and dedication.
“Salaga South has lost a devoted son who gave much of himself to the land he cherished,” she added.
Hon. Salifu Adam Braimah is remembered for his commitment to public service and his role in shaping the early development of the Savannah Region.
He is survived by his family and a legacy of service to his people.
