Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annor Dompreh, has declared that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority Caucus has bounced back stronger following the party’s setback in the 2024 general elections and is now fully focused on holding government accountable ahead of the 2028 polls.

Addressing members of the caucus ahead of Parliament’s resumption this week, the Minority Chief Whip praised NPP MPs for remaining resilient and effective despite operating from the opposition benches.

According to him, the caucus has transformed what he described as a period of “momentary bleakness” into renewed strength and determination.

“As Western Churchill espoused in his first speech to the British House of Commons, ‘I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat,’” he stated.

“Now I can confidently say that we have bounced back stronger, more agile, well-informed, and indeed ready to take on 2028 with tactics and strategies that would marvel our counterparts,” he added.

Hon. Annor Dompreh further described the NPP Minority as “a mighty minority,” citing the caucus’ active participation on the floor of Parliament and its efforts to engage the public on key national issues affecting Ghanaians.

He also acknowledged the criticisms and personal attacks some Minority MPs have endured in recent months, but urged members of the caucus to remain united, focused, and resilient as they continue their oversight role.

The Nsawam Adoagyiri MP stressed that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) had become unpopular within a short period in office due to what he described as poor governance and unpopular decisions.

He therefore urged the Minority not to fail Ghanaians by remaining silent when the government goes wrong.

According to him, it is the responsibility of the NPP Minority Caucus to expose shortcomings of the government led by President John Dramani Mahama and ensure accountability in governance.

Parliament resumes sitting this week as lawmakers return for the next session amid heightened political debate and growing scrutiny of government policies.
