Mr. Ernest Yaw Anim has, after the internal election, been elected as the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the upcoming Kumawu by-election scheduled to take place on May 23, 2023.
Mr. Anim won by a margin of 14 votes after polling 195 votes to beat his closest rival, Ama Serwaa, who received 181 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Anim promised to patch up party divisions in the region in order to ensure that the NPP retains its parliamentary seat in Kumawu in the impending by-election.
The Kumawu parliamentary seat was declared vacant following the demise of the sitting Member of Parliament, Philip Basoah.
The leadership of the NPP says it is poised to retain the parliamentary seat as the party will begin a campaign in earnest ahead of the by-election.
