The Appointments Committee of Parliament will today, Friday, June 20, 2025, vet Supreme Court nominee Justice Kwaku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, marking the final step in the scrutiny of seven justices nominated by former President John Dramani Mahama.
The vetting process had been temporarily suspended following a petition from one Anthony Kwabenya Rau, who accused the nominee of misconduct and verbal abuse during a court proceeding.
According to the petition, Justice Ackaah-Boafo allegedly described Mr. Rau as “arrogant” and “power drunk” during a hearing — claims the judge has firmly denied.
Despite the controversy, today’s session is expected to conclude the vetting of all seven nominees from the Court of Appeal.
The Appointments Committee will submit its final recommendations to the plenary for approval or rejection.
