Carlos Queiroz has arrived in Ghana to take charge of the senior national team, stepping into the role at a critical moment as the country prepares for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The seasoned Portuguese coach touched down in Accra on Wednesday, April 22, beginning a brief but high-stakes assignment aimed at steering the Black Stars into competitive shape ahead of the global tournament scheduled for June.
An official unveiling has been slated for Thursday, April 23, at the Alisa Hotel, where Queiroz is expected to address the media and outline his immediate priorities, football philosophy, and plans for the team.
His appointment comes on a short-term four-month contract, signaling a results-driven approach by the Ghana Football Association as pressure mounts to deliver a respectable World Cup campaign.
Queiroz will not be working alone. He is joined by his trusted assistant, Roger De Sa, in addition to three other technical team members, forming a backroom staff with extensive international pedigree.
The former Ghana national football team coach Otto Addo departs the role after a run of underwhelming results in recent friendlies, paving the way for this new direction.
With Ghana placed in Group L, expectations remain high for the Black Stars to rediscover their competitive edge and make a meaningful impact on football’s biggest stage.
