On April 23, 2025, in commemoration of World Book and Copyright Day, Empowerment Through Education (ETE), in collaboration with Patlife Foundation and QS Impact, organized a community outreach at the Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies in Nima. The initiative focused on promoting literacy, fostering a love for reading, and reinforcing the role of education in sustainable development.
World Book and Copyright Day is observed globally to celebrate the power of books and reading, while also promoting respect for intellectual property and creative rights. The event at the Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies brought together students, teachers, and community leaders in a vibrant discussion about the importance of education as a tool for empowerment.

The program emphasized the critical role of education in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 4 – Quality Education, which seeks to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
“Books are more than just sources of knowledge—they are bridges to opportunities,” said Andy Oppong Dankyi, the Director of Empowerment Through Education. “As we strive to achieve the Agenda 2030, education must remain at the center of our national development strategy. Without literacy and access to education, progress on all other SDGs will be limited.”
Speakers from Patlife Foundation and QS Impact also shared insights on how education can be harnessed to reduce inequality, empower youth, and foster innovation across communities in Ghana.
The event featured inspiring sessions, book donations, and a dialogue on the importance of young people reading with intentionality which encourages creativity among people, especially the youth.
As Ghana continues to work toward a more literate and equitable society, Empowerment Through Education and its partners reaffirm their commitment to ensuring that every child has access to the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in a fast-changing world.
