The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has announced that the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, will be observed from Sunday, September 14, to Thursday, September 18, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The rites, steeped in Asante tradition, are expected to attract chiefs, queen mothers, dignitaries, and mourners from across Ghana and beyond.
According to the Manhyia Palace, the ceremonies will feature elaborate cultural displays, traditional mourning rituals, and homage-paying events to honour the late Asantehemaa, who passed away earlier this month.
The Palace emphasized that the period will be marked by solemnity and reverence befitting the stature of the Queen Mother.
In line with preparations, the Asantehene has imposed a ban on all public gatherings, including funerals, outdoor events, and social activities, within Kumasi and its environs during the five-day period.
Authorities say the directive is to safeguard the sanctity of the rites, maintain security, and prevent disruptions, given the large numbers expected.
The Palace has urged the public to fully cooperate and accord the occasion the dignity it deserves.
