President John Dramani Mahama has dismissed Dr. Eric Nkansah as Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
This development forms part of the Presidents major leadership reshuffle who he deems fit to serve the nation in his government.
Dr. Nkansah, who took up the role in January 2023, had a career spanning teaching, banking, and academia, with stints as a subject teacher, Barclays Bank Sales Manager, and a part-time lecturer at Garden City University College.
Replacing him is Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, Provost of the College of Education at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), whose extensive academic and administrative expertise has set high expectations for reform.
The government sees this move as critical to addressing systemic challenges and sparking innovation in the sector.
With Prof. Davis at the helm, Ghana’s education system may be poised for transformative change.
