President John Dramani Mahama has suspended the Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), Divine Selasi Agbeti, for two weeks following allegations that he improperly used a uniformed military officer as a personal bodyguard during public events.
The move, announced in a letter dated July 15, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, expressed the presidency’s strong disapproval and described Mr. Agbeti’s conduct as “inappropriate and embarrassing to the government.”
Mr. Agbeti’s use of the military officer, reportedly without proper clearance, has triggered concerns about protocol breaches and national security procedures.
The issue has reportedly unsettled security circles, with insiders warning of the potential risks such actions pose to institutional credibility and military-civilian boundaries.
The presidency’s swift response is seen as an effort to reinforce discipline within the leadership ranks of key national agencies.
Divine Selasi Agbeti was appointed as the head of the NCSA in March 2025, taking over from Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, who had served since 2017.
