The Coalition for Youth Development in Okyeman has petitioned Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin over alleged derogatory remarks made by Tamale Central MP, Murtala Mohammed, against the late Dr. Joseph Boakye Danquah.
The group claims the MP labeled Dr. Danquah a “traitor” and “CIA operative” during parliamentary proceedings on February 4, 2025, a statement they argue is disrespectful to the legacy of a key figure in Ghana’s independence struggle.
In the petition, the group’s convenor, Akomaning Yeboah, called for the MP to retract his comments and issue a formal apology on the floor of Parliament.
They further demanded that the remarks be expunged from the parliamentary records, warning that such historical misrepresentations could undermine national unity.
Receiving the petition, the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Djietror, assured that the Speaker would take appropriate action in due course.
