The Supreme Court has adjourned indefinitely a case filed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) challenging a High Court ruling that directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete and declare parliamentary election results in four constituencies.
On January 4, 2025, the High Court, led by Justice Forson Baah Agyapong, granted the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) application, directing the EC to finalize the collation of results in the Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Techiman South, and Ablekuma North seats.
Following the verdict, the EC confirmed the results for three constituencies: Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, and Techiman South.
However, the findings for Ablekuma North have yet to be completed. The NDC asked the Supreme Court to overturn the High Court’s verdict.
The party said that the verdict created legal problems regarding the electoral process and wanted it overturned.
When the case was brought in court today, it became clear that the NDC had failed to serve the NPP candidates involved in the issue.
The Supreme Court has consequently delayed the case sine die (indefinitely) to allow the parties to be served.
