A group of youth members from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency is demanding that the party’s leadership fulfill its 2024 campaign promises, including appointing their Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, as a minister.
The youth group also declared their full support for Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Lawer as the preferred candidate for the District Chief Executive (DCE) position, insisting that his appointment would strengthen the party’s grassroots engagement and improve governance at the district level.
At a press conference in Asesewa, the group reminded President John Mahama and NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia of their commitment to considering Hon. Nyarko for a ministerial role.
They expressed disappointment over the delay in fulfilling this pledge, warning that failure to do so could affect party loyalty and morale in the constituency.
Their demand comes as NDC supporters across various regions push for strategic appointments that reflect the party’s campaign assurances.
Additionally, the youth endorsed Hon. Kwesi Lawer, a three-term assembly member, for the DCE position, citing his extensive experience in local governance and community development.
They emphasized that his leadership would be crucial in advancing developmental projects and ensuring effective governance in the district.
The group warned that ignoring their demands could have consequences for the NDC’s electoral prospects in 2028, urging the leadership to act swiftly to solidify party unity and trust in the constituency.
