The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully contained a warehouse fire that broke out at the Ghana Water Company Central Stores at Ashaiman Golf City in the early hours of Monday, January 19, 2026, preventing it from spreading to adjoining facilities.

According to the GNFS, the Service received a distress call at exactly 12:18 a.m. reporting an institutional fire at the facility. Fire crews were swiftly dispatched and arrived at the scene at 12:25 a.m.
Reinforcements, including two additional fire pumps from the Tema Metro and Industrial Area Fire Stations, were deployed to support the operation.
Firefighters managed to confine the blaze by 1:43 a.m., brought it under control at 3:22 a.m., and fully extinguished it at 3:50 a.m.

The fire caused extensive damage to production materials and machine parts stored in Warehouse “D.” However, the GNFS confirmed that six workers’ quarters and two adjoining warehouses, Warehouses “B” and “C”, were successfully salvaged, averting what could have been a much larger loss.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded during the incident. The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently under investigation.
The initial response team was led by Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) Samuel Darko and the operation was supervised by Assistant Chief Fire Officer II (ACFO II) Patrick Sallah, Tema Regional Fire Officer; Divisional Officer II (DO II) Fiifi Oppong, Regional Operations Officer; and DO II Ebenezer Yenzu, Municipal Fire Officer for Tema Metro.
