The General Department of Immigration under Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior has dismissed reports circulating on social media and certain websites claiming that Ghanaian nationals and other African citizens with expired immigration waivers have been ordered to leave the country by May 31, 2026.
The clarification follows widespread online claims suggesting that Cambodian authorities had issued a directive compelling affected foreign nationals, including Africans, to exit the country or face arrest if they failed to comply.

In an official press clarification issued on Friday, May 29, 2026, the Immigration Department described the reports as “completely untrue,” stressing that no such order has been issued by the government.
“The General Department of Immigration of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia wishes to clarify that the information published on those websites is completely untrue,” the statement said.
The department noted that the misleading information had been shared by websites identified as publishing the false claims and urged the public to disregard such reports.
Authorities further advised both national and international public to rely strictly on official communication channels for accurate immigration updates. The department directed the public to its official website, www.immigration.gov.kh, or to contact its hotline for verified information.
