The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has officially received the final report of the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Committee, marking a significant step in Ghana’s efforts to establish a sustainable and financially viable digital broadcasting platform.
The report was presented after months of consultations with key stakeholders in the broadcasting industry, including the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA), the National Media Commission (NMC), and KNET Ltd, among other industry players.
Established in February 2026, the committee was tasked with developing a fair and transparent framework to ensure the long-term sustainability of Ghana’s DTT platform, with recommendations focused on cost-sharing arrangements, governance structures, operational efficiency, and improved service delivery.
Receiving the report, Mr George reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continued engagement with broadcasters, regulators, and other stakeholders before any final policy decisions are made.
The recommendations are expected to guide reforms aimed at strengthening nationwide digital television services while creating a sustainable operational model to support the future of Ghana’s digital broadcasting ecosystem.
