Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, Deputy Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has raised serious allegations against the Electoral Commission, accusing them of attempting to rig the upcoming elections through manipulation of the voter register.
Speaking on ABC IN THE MORNING on Friday, September 13, 2024, Dr. Computer asserted, “Somebody in the Electoral Commission is trying to rig the election through the register.”
His comments highlights mounting concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.
Dr. Computer emphasized that despite these serious accusations, the NDC has chosen not to pursue legal action but rather to rely on the power of the electorate.
“We are ready for the demonstration on Tuesday. All the sixteen regions, district will have massive demonstration simultaneously. Let the world hear us (NDC),” he declared.
The NDC’s planned demonstrations are expected to signal widespread dissatisfaction and call for transparency in the electoral process.
Further intensifying his critique, Dr. Computer questioned the Electoral Commission’s reluctance to conduct a forensic audit of the voter register, which he believes would restore public confidence in the electoral system ahead of the December 7th, 2024 elections.
“Somebody is trying to rig the election through the register. Why are they running away from the audit? Let’s open up the book. Let’s bring a forensic audit to come and check. And be sure that this register is now credible and can be used. We don’t trust this EC,” he stated, highlighting the NDC’s distrust and demand for greater electoral transparency.
