The family of former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is weighing the option of flying her abroad for specialised medical treatment following a shooting incident in which she sustained injuries.
She was reportedly shot on Sunday, June 21, during events connected to the coronation of her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, as the new leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
Sources close to the family indicate that consultations are ongoing regarding her possible transfer overseas for advanced care. The proposed trip is expected to take place later in the week, subject to medical evaluations and logistical arrangements.
The former lawmaker is currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
In the meantime, nine persons linked to the incident, including Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, have made their first appearance before the Adentan Circuit Court.
They were conveyed to court under tight police security in a prison bus and appeared in handcuffs as they faced initial proceedings over their alleged involvement in the shooting.
The incident, which occurred during a large gathering of the Kristo Asafo Mission, has since led to the commencement of legal processes and drawn significant public attention.
Court hearings are expected to continue as investigations into the matter progress.
