The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, along with the security Service Chiefs, has paid a courtesy visit on the newly appointed Defence Minister, Honourable Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.
Speaking on behalf of the officers, soldiers, and civilian defence staff on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Ministry of Defence in Accra, General Oppong-Peprah extended his congratulations to Dr. Omane Boamah and pledged unwavering support to uphold Ghana’s territorial integrity.
In his address, the CDS assured the new Defence Minister of the armed forces’ readiness to defend the nation by land, sea, and air. He emphasized the importance of strong civil-military collaboration to ensure national security, particularly in the face of rising regional security threats.
Expressing his gratitude for the visit, Dr. Omane Boamah assured the military leadership that he would work diligently to address key challenges, particularly in troop accommodation and logistics procurement.
“The dedication of the Ghana Armed Forces to maintaining peace and stability, free from violent extremism and terrorism, is commendable,” the minister noted, pledging to support the High Command in achieving its strategic goals.
The meeting was attended by key figures, including the Chief Director of the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Lawoetey Tettey, the Chief of Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Joseph Prince Osei Owusu, and Air Commodore Edward Kwasi Gyamfi, Principal General Staff Officer at the MOD.
